Started ‘accidentally’ on November 2007, the www.edu2000.org initiative is now gaining ground. I have signed the first contract on February 11th, 2008 with a middle school (junior high school) at Bekasi, the Eastern outskirt of Jakarta.
You may check the school website, which is under edu2000.org subdomain: http://smpn3bekasi.edu2000.org. Sorry for some, the language used is Indonesian.
The edu2000.org concept has since been expanded from the original motto of ‘finding, creating and sharing educational content’ with another motto ‘community building.’ The idea of community building has made school alumni associations got interested with the platform. They see that edu2000.org would bring back the sweet old time of school days.
We’re now talking with the alumni association of Budi Mulia senior high school (Jakarta) to use edu2000.org platform for both school and alumni platform. You bet you’ll see the result in the coming months!

Kosasih,
Hi I stumbled upon your blog and saw your post about the Long Tail and it’s so coincidental that I’m from SMU!
I saw this recent blog post and I can’t read bahasa but I’d love to find out more about what this initiative is about. Is it about using web2.0 for education? Do drop me a line if possible!
Best,
Daryl

Hi Daryl,
My postings are in English, but I often refer to my activities in Indonesia, in which using the local language. The Edu2000.org is an initiative of using IT and internet to enhance education.
The tool is very simple: Joomla CMS with any neccessary plugins available. We have dual objective: first regarding content and the second regarding community building.
On content, the motto is ‘finding, creating and sharing educational content.’ It would mostly finding online videos, classify and put together in a web page with preface or comments to be used by teachers.
On the community building, we create real community virtually, that is medium of communication among students, teachers, and alumni.
